My husband Chris suffered from chronic cluster headaches and nerve/tension headaches every single day. Life was unbearable to say the least… he would wake with a headache, have headaches all day and be woken (by the beast) through the night too. We had to have oxygen in our room and a smaller one he could take in the car. For 3 ½ years we exhausted all options in Australia.
Chris saw several neurologists that said “there is no cure” as they handed him yet another prescription for mind numbing drugs or nasal sprays. He saw chiropractors, massage therapists, naturopaths, specialist headache Doctors and even had botox injections. Nothing worked.
Then we saw Chanel’s story and got in contact with the Headache Clinic in South Africa. Chris spoke with Dr Shevel and researched as much as I could and we agreed that Chris had nothing to lose. That was over 6 weeks ago now and Chris has been headache free since the first small simple surgery he had. He had 2 minor surgeries while in South Africa and it was the best decision we made. It is truly amazing that Chris has been given his life back, he can make plans and keep them and he can leave the house without the oxygen tank!!
We are so pleased and grateful to Dr Shevel and his wonderful team. It is beyond comprehension that these simple surgeries are not done all over the world since people from all over the world have been cured of their debilitating headaches.
We want all those who suffer that there is help out there so don’t lose hope. Our wish is that these techniques will be learned by others so that many sufferers can be helped everywhere. Please feel free to ask questions, we would only be too happy to help others get their lives back as Chris has.

Hi Peggy and Chris,
Thanks so much for sharing your story.
I’m so pleased that Chris is pain free. Having seen Chanel suffer and the affect it had on her quality of life and our family I’m so thankful to this clinic.
Thanks for sharing your story.

Hi, I am so happy for you and Chris. Thanks for sharing your story. My niece has suffered from daily cluster headaches from the age of 15 to 22. She has between 6 and 20 attacks per day, lasting from 10 minutes to 2 hours. Like all of you brave sufferers out there, she has tried every single treatment and nothing touches the edge of an attack. Last year she went to Dr Shevel in Johannesberg, had two operations, and was pain free for 4 months. Then they came back!!!!! We are beside ourselves as they are worse than ever. We are weighing up – should she go back to Dr Shevel. He has been great, but I am wondering if anyone else has had a major relapse after what we thought was successful surgery. Would love to hear from you.

I would most definitely get in touch with Dr Shevel or the Clinic again, Hopeful. I went on to have a number of surgeries after my first major surgery, to cauterise additional arteries that caused further migraines and pain. Each one gave more and more relief.
I was so disappointed initally but my Dad actually convinced me to be dedicated to my recovery and keep in touch with Dr Shevel and work at it. I am so glad I did, I would never have got the relief I have now. Good luck xx

Hi, I am just letting you know that my niece is going back to Dr Shevel on the weekend. We are all filled with mixed emotions – fear, hope, excitement that she may get rid of the beast again, this time for good. I will keep you all posted, but thanks for sharing your stories and giving us a hint of good things to come.
If love could have made her well she would be the healthiest person alive xxxx

Hi Hopeful, how did it go with your niece?

Hi, My niece went back to JoBerg and stayed there for three weeks. During that time she had 3 procedures done but unfortunately it didnt work. When she arrived home in Australia she was worse than ever and it has been devastating. Dr Shevel and his team were wonderful and so disappointed and sad that it didnt work. The last three weeks seems to have given a little bit of relief. She is chronic and never gets a attack free day. At the moment she has a few a day lasting for about 10 to 20 minutes each. She is the bravest person I have ever met, just like all Cluster Headache sufferers are. My best wishes and support go out to all of you. We will never give up hope that one day something will help. Cheers.
